Couplers act as connectors in scaffolding, typically connecting components such as steel pipes, treads, and beams. There are many different types of couplers used in scaffolding, and different scaffolding couplers have different applications. Below, we will explain the specific applications of these scaffolding couplers.

double coupler

Clamps Used to Connect Two Steel Pipes

Double Couplers/Right-Angle Couplers

Right-angle couplers are used to vertically secure two half-couplers together. They can be fixed in one piece or welded. This double coupler can only secure two steel pipes vertically and is used to connect ledgers and standard pipes in scaffolding systems.

Swivel Couplers

Swivel couplers connect two half-couplers with rivets, allowing for free rotation. In scaffolding systems, they are commonly used to connect diagonal braces and other steel pipes at special angles.

sleeve coupler

Sleeve Couplers

A sleeve coupler is a cylindrical fastener that connects two steel pipes end-to-end from the outside, extending the length of the pipe. When constructing large scaffolding systems, the height or length of steel pipes can be extended indefinitely.

Joint Pin Coupler

A joint pin coupler is similar to a sleeve coupler, but the difference is that a joint pin coupler inserts into two steel pipes, connecting them end-to-end from the inside. Its application range is basically the same as that of a sleeve coupler.

Putlog Coupler

The putlog coupler is used similarly to a double coupler and is also used to connect ledgers and standard boards. However, the putlog coupler is a single coupler with only one clamping mechanism, making it suitable for lightweight projects.

Board Retaining Coupler

Board Retaining Couplers

Board retaining couplers are used to connect steel pipes and scaffolding planks, locking the scaffolding planks to the scaffolding ledgers to form a stable working platform. They are available in both pressed and forged construction methods. Pressed board retaining couplers are more affordable than forged board retaining couplers. For smaller projects, you can choose a pressed board retaining coupler, while for larger projects, you'll need a forged board retaining coupler, which offers greater durability and strength.

Girder Coupler

Beam Coupler/Girder Coupler

Girder couplers are used in pairs. Their unique clamping mechanism secures them to both sides of the scaffolding beam and connects them to the scaffolding tube. This ensures the scaffolding system can withstand lateral and vertical forces and prevent it from toppling.

Other Specialty Clamps

Special-shaped Coupler

Many other specialty scaffolding clamps are commonly used in daily life. We have experience producing the following types of clamps. As a professional scaffolding coupler manufacturer, we can also customize them according to customer drawings.

The above are the specific uses of commonly used couplers. If you have any scaffolding coupler needs, please feel free to contact us. Our scaffolding coupler details page also provides more information.
