Base jacks are a versatile piece of equipment with significant advantages in terms of stability, safety, and adaptability in scaffolding systems, making them an essential component of scaffolding. Scaffolding base jacks, also known as leveling jacks or screw jacks, typically consist of a threaded rod, base plate, and jack nut, and can be used to level the scaffolding platform by rotating the nut to ensure stability. The working principle of a base jack is similar to a large screw, and most base jacks have a maximum extension height of up to 1500mm.

Types and Uses of Base Jacks

1.Hollow Base Jacks

Using hollow steel pipes, they are lighter and easier to handle while still providing the necessary adjustment function for uneven ground. Hollow base jack are widely used and suitable for most scaffolding systems, formwork engineering, and lightweight support structures requiring height adjustment.

2. Solid Base Jacks

Using solid steel pipes, they are heavier and stronger, with a greater load-bearing capacity than hollow base jacks, making them ideal for heavy-duty scaffolding systems. Solid base jacks are suitable for heavy construction, high-rise scaffolding, and support projects requiring exceptional stability.

3. U-Head Base Jacks

Placed on top of the uprights to support beams, they are usually used with base jacks in steel support systems and scaffolding systems. U-head base jacks can be customized according to surface treatment, product size, and thickness, and have a wide range of applications. They can be used in building construction, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure requiring formwork support.

4. Universal Base Jacks

These can be used as both base jacks and head jacks, with or without a base plate, and can level scaffolding on uneven ground and provide stable support. Universal base jacks are mainly used in general construction, infrastructure, industrial sites, and temporary structures.

5. Swivel Base Jacks

Swivel base jacks are equipped with a rotatable base plate, designed for inclined or sloped surfaces, and can be adjusted according to the slope of the ground to ensure the scaffolding is level and stable. The versatility and flexibility of swivel base jacks make them suitable for industrial, commercial, and other residential construction, adapting to different construction projects.

6. Caster Base Jacks

Caster base jacks are base jacks with casters, allowing for fine height adjustment of each leg, ensuring the scaffolding work platform remains level even on uneven ground. Caster base jacks can move and level mobile scaffolding on uneven surfaces. The casters can be replaced with fixed bases, providing versatility. Caster base jacks make moving the scaffolding structure easier, improving work efficiency.

Scaffolding Base Jack Installation Steps

1. Check the scaffolding base jacks for damage and ensure all components are in good working order.

2. Clear debris from the construction site and place the base plates and scaffolding base jacks according to the construction drawings.

3. Insert the scaffolding uprights into the base jacks and secure them.

4. Assemble the scaffolding system structure, adjusting each upright to ensure the scaffolding work platform is level.

5. Check that the base jack connections are secure, the load-bearing capacity meets standards, and the scaffolding work platform is safe and stable.
